About Dilemmas

The 'A' Level results are coming out soon. Scared... (but then, who isn't)

In the meanwhile, I am frustrated over what to wear when the results come out. Contact lenses or specs?

If I wear lenses like I normally do, what if I screwed up and need to cry? Then there goes my pair of contacts when i rub my eyes...

Then if I didn't do badly, isn't wearing specs there like cursing yourself or just asking for yourself to have done badly?

Bleargh, this is such a hard decision to make.

About Roses

I think roses are very common flowers, rather very lovely flowers which have been overcommercialised till they've lost all novelty. (No, I am not being petty over Valentine's. I'll have you know that I received a pink rose, some heart thing with an organza ribbon, a purple bee mousepad, a saucy book tied up in a gold ribbon, got treated to a movie, chauffeured back in a Mercedes Benz by an officer [and his fellow officer friend] and had hot dates [and a squeezy night] with three of my most eligible ex-Nanyang classmates [which speaks more of the standard, rather its non-existence, than them]. Oh and I got other flowers that day too, and a cat/rat/rooster/centipede(?) several times as well)

I think irises and lilies and orchids and violets and plum/apple/cherry blossoms... are so much prettier...

That aside, apparently your favourite rose colour tells you about your character.

If you like
a deep, red rose: you're passionate to the limit and erm... rather intense in relationships (read: possessive/can't get over a failed romance soon)
a sweet pink rose: you're warm, hopeful and prefer a erm... sweet, friendly relationship to an intense one (read: commitment-phobic)
a pure, white rose: you're either lofty or have a soul which is crystal-clear and well... desire a relationship which matches with your imaginary ideal of one (read: head-up-in-the-clouds; impractical)
a bright, yellow rose: you're a sunshine-y-soul and prefer friendship to love (read: asexual)
a blue/purple/orange rose: you're fake! Don't you know that those are artificially coloured??!!

***

Actually, I made the last one up. Ha ha.

About Friends

Male, female... it doesn't matter... it's all the same in the end...

*sigh*

They dump/abandon/cast (off)/discard/disuse/drop/junk/reject/repudiate you once they sniff the whiff of a potentially Significant Other.

Ah well. Que sera sera.

About Mothers

I CAN'T BELIEVE MY MOTHER!!!!!

Oh my goodness...watching her play mahjong last night was awful... sooooooooooo awful...

She:

a) never paid attention, which was bad since it showed no respect for her fellow kakis which was fine since they were my father's friends not hers anyway but more importantly it showed no respect for the game which is what can I say... well what can I say to someone who doesn't respect the game!!

b) didn't know what was going on which was worse... even if you don't know anything you still must pretend you do, hello... I mean if you meet someone on the street you've never known before and the idiot says hi, surely it's decent courtesy to pretend you know him... the same logic applies...

and c)tried to game with ONE MEASLY tai. This is unforgivable, if you have no standard at all you might as well not live!!! to make things worse she could have made it THREE tai with my help and her hand... But no....... she had to do it her way......and gamble (and lose) money which she could have just given ME to spend and at least the family utility derived would have been a Pareto gain... and she majored in Econs... my goodness... what is this... I want to bite my head off now... ARGH!!!!

About Joy

My babies have come home today!! Ordered the twenty-odd of them darlings straight from the UK.

My joy is complete! The corner (of the shelf) that I cleared out for them in expectant delight shall finally be occupied by my dear little precious-es!

That said, one can only curse the rising Pound, rather, the Asian governments who persist in holding up the Dollar's value (hence causing the Pound to rise via some mechanism you should read up the Economist for) that caused my little ones to cost so much (don't ask, really).

About Regret

If I could live JC life all over again, I'd do it differently. For one I wouldn't do my homework during the first three months and I would pon more Chinese lessons... my class boys all did and well.... we know their results...

Actually... I wouldn't... (I'm pathetic!)

But I would shorten my skirt... It's sad to go through JC as the one with the long skirt... tastefully shorten it.... for just the correct amount of white-and-green...the former slightly more than the latter...

What beauty are dreams!!

About Work

"...it's absolutely wicked for girls who have plenty to take work from girls who haven't."
--The Chalet School at War

I think so too. Hmph.

***

But I'll have to work, or at least apply to.

I believe my friends are beginning to despise me.

Friends for the better or the worse. Pah.

About Fathers

My father is mean and nasty. He actually is allowing me to apply for work.

HMPH.

Whatever happened to nice, gentle, caring fathers whose lifelong aim is to shield their precious daughters from the brutal realities of the cold, hard world!!

I get the worst deal for everything.

About Paths to be Tread

Suddenly I wonder why on earth don't I want to go to NUS... for one I'll never have to wash my own clothes, nor iron, nor toil (in the non-mugging sense)... and since my father won't have to pay for an over-high pound, that means I'll have ample pocket money and can go for nice lunches and dinners with nice people everyday.

And then I think of the lush green countrysides, gardens full of quaint, old-fashioned blooms, gentle breezes on a summer's day, twinkling stars laughing in the sky, the lulling promise of a West-end musical......treasure-filled bookstores....ghosts of dreams of past which beckon hauntingly in my ear...history as rich as shortbread...and I know I have to go....

But there are ties that bind... The ties that bind, the ties that bind....can I really sever the ties that bind?
